Worst session ever...

I just had the worst poker session of my life. It was actually about a week ago. I got to the casino at about 3pm and played in the 4/8 game for about 2 and half hours. I was up 9 bucks when I left. I got into the tournament that started at 6. After about 3 hours of play, I busted in 15th. I wasn't too mad at what had happened. It was alright. I know I can win that tournament at some point.

Here comes the good stuff. I got in the 4/8 game right after I busted in the tournament. Two hands stick out in my mind. They put me on tilt more than I have ever been. The first was this hand where I had 77. I made it 8 to go becasue I don't want any donkey's playing shit hands against me. Well, I got two callers. The flop came K103. I still had the sevens and bet out 4 dollars. This time I get one caller. The turn is an Ace. I check, he checks. River is a rag. I check, he checks. He shows K3o. Is that unbelievable or what? Who could be playing these trash hands? I was about to find out how bad these players are. A few hands later...I have 44 and just limp. Finally, I flop a set. The flop was 4KJ. I was in the driver seat. Finally. I bet and get two callers. The turn is the Ah. There are now 3 hearts out, so I slow down and check. The guy next to me makes it 8 and the girl across the table calls. I make it 3 more because that's all I have. The guy completes the bet and the gurls calls. The river is a 10. The two other people check and I show my set, the guy next to me shows a J4o, 2 pair and the girl shows a Q8o. !!!!!!! Yea, I was absolutely livid and just got up and left. I could not believe that that had happened to me. AAAAHHHHH....until next time.

My 21st

So, the day is finally here. I wasted no time last night. I went to the casino and by 2 am, I was playing in a Limit game. I sat with 60 and was down to about 38. By the time I left, I was up to 89. I only got to play for an hour and a half. I was happy with the results. Here are some hands...

UTG, I pick up AJs. It's about time I get a hand too. I had not gotten anything thus far. I raised it, making it 8 to go. I got two callers. The flop came all rags. I bet out with the AJ. I got one caller this time. I checked the turn and river and at the showdown, I showed Aj and he showed A8. Kinda weird.

Another...I have a KQ in middle position. I make a call after about 3 people call before the flop. Flop comes Q high. I call the flop bet and river is a rag. I check and someone behind me bets. I have to lay it down because of the straight draw. River is another rag and the guy calling it down has a Q9. I had him rolled. The other guy had a straight and took the pot.

Another hand, in the BB. I have 99. Flop comes A59, all clubs. I check the flop and call the bet. Turn brings a rag and I check cause I know I'm beat. Let's get to the showdown. Winner shows J10 of clubs.

A final hand. I have a little 63o in the BB. Flop comes 578. I bet out. Two callers. Turn completes the straight. I bet out again and get a caller from the lady on my right. Turn is of no consequence. I bet out and she calls. I can't remember what she had but I took the 50 dollar pot.

I was liking this limit thing. It makes me less nervouse than NO-Limit because I know there is no way I can go broke on any single hand. I can beat the players in the game. I know that much. Hopefully I can play a few hours on Tuesday. That is all for today.

UB Tourney

I played in a tourney on UB tonight and busted in 177th. 613 started so it wasn't a complete failure. I had one hand that kinda made me mad but it shouldn't have. I had AK against 55. I had him covered so I called his all-in bet. I didn't get any help and was taken down to under 1k in chips. I managed to get back up over 2k and after the break I was doing well. The blinds were getting big and my stack was not growing. I had KQs and got called by a pair of 10s. I didn't get any help and I was done. I don't think I played badly or anything. I just didn't get much going all night.

After the tourney, I watched Rounders. I hadn't seen it in a while so I thought it would be a good thing to see it again. I really think it's a good poker movie. People talk about how it's not that great and that there are so many others out there. I agree but I think this one is pretty damn good, too. That is all for now.

I just thought of this quote from Doyle: "I decided life was too short to not do what you wanted. That's when I decided I was gonna do what I loved. That was play high-stakes poker."

Finally a live game...

Last night I finally played in a live game. It had been about 2 months since my last live game. That is going to be a problem when I start hitting the casino. I'll hopefully get a few more in before the 18th. So how was my night? I broke even but only after a little help and alcohol from Shannon. I was down a few bucks when we called it and he gave me my buy-in and I told him I would pay for him next game.

Some hands:

Against Tim: I have 66 and I make it 2 to go. He is shortstacked and moves in and it is now another, I believe, 4 for me to call. I told him I was thinking it would be a coin flip and that he would have something like AQ or AJ. I made the call and he had AJ. I was happy with the call and I flopped a set. It was nice

Another against Tim: He is sitting to the left of me all night and I have 10 10 UTG. I once again make it 2 to go and he moves in. I thought about it for a second and said "Call" before I convinced myself to fold. I was glad but I would have to have the best hand hold up again in a coin flip. He showed AcKc. I knew I had the best hand but it was close. He didn't catch and I won the pot, again.

A hand against Scott: I had a 98s and the flop came 9 high. He bets, I call. Next card is a 6, I think. He bets, I call. Last card comes an 8. Needless to say, he rivered a nice straight against my two pair and I was a little pissed about that. I CANNOT forget about two pair with a straight draw on the board. It's simply bad news.

Other notes...The biggest hand I had was JJ. I bluffed Tim, Scott, and Shannon. The table was 4 handed all night. I need to work on my heads-up play. It is still not great. I think raising on the button everytime is a good strategy. This is used my Howard Lederer and Erik Seidel (one or the other). I thought I did well short-handed. I might have been TOO loose though.

The Usual

Today was a $5 sitngo on UB. I was down to the final 4. Top 3 pay. I picked up QQ in the BB. UTG raised, 2nd called, SB folded, I moved in. They both call. Flop comes J74 Rainbow. They both check as I await my fate. Turn a 3. River a 3. I lose to A3. That's the way Online Poker goes for me. Ridiculous.

Intro...

Let me start by saying I love poker. I have for about 2 years now. I guess you could say I started when everyone else did...when Moneymaker won the Main Event in '03. I fell in love quickly. Ever since, I have wanted to get as good as possible and make money. I am about to turn 21 and the point of this blog is for my own memory. I am going to journal the happenings of each sesssion I participate in. This will hopefully fill up as my time at the casino takes off. Now, back to the Limit section in Super/System and the waiting game for my bday.
